THE PSYCHOLOGICAL IMPLICATIONS OF INTERFAITH MARRIAGES ON CHILDREN: A CASE STUDY FROM LEMBANG BETTENG DEATA, TANA TORAJA, INDONESIA

Abstract

Interfaith marriages have an impact on children's psychology due to differences in beliefs held by both parents so that children tend not to be able to control their emotions because of the differences that children feel every day. The type of research used is field research with the nature of observation, interviews and documentation research. The data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The research results obtained are as follows; Based on the results of interviews with respondents who were willing to become research objects, it is known that: 1) Interfaith marriages in Lembang Betteng Deata are of particular concern to religious and community leaders, this can be seen from several parties who suffer losses from interfaith marriages, especially children of married couples. different religions because it will be difficult to determine which religion to choose. 2) Islamic religious counselors play an important role in anticipating that in the future interfaith marriages do not happen again, one of which is by guiding the young Muslim generation so that they do not easily fall into doing things that are not in accordance with the teachings of the Islamic religion and violate the rules of Allah SWT.
