Abstract

Indonesia has participated well in the principles of sustainable finance, namely participating in solving social problems and preventing environmental damage. This is in accordance with the Green banking concept which is promoted to protect the environment from the banking side. This research aims to analyze the concept of green banking from the literature and Islamic Economics perspective. The method used is literature study, data collection by searching for sources such as books, journals and existing research. The results of the analysis found from this research are the concept of green banking in Indonesia from literature studies and perspectives of Islamic economics that Green banking has benefits society to the ummah, can be sustainable development, according to Islamic ethics and guidance, and reduce negative impacts to the environment. It is hoped that the government can follow up on the green banking concept in the banking world considering that the impacts are very good for environmental sustainability. There is a need for awareness that importance of green banking for the government and society to work together to develop sustainably in the banking sector. This is in accordance with Islamic ethics and does not conflict with Islam.
